Sandy climbs from the valley floor toward the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, and lawns near the top of that climb live in a noticeably different microclimate from the ones near State Street.
Properties near the canyon mouths get downslope wind that dries turf faster than the same lawn would dry a few miles west. Lawns there usually need a longer watering cycle and benefit from being cut a little higher through summer.
